Girls' Rugby Yet to be Beaten - June 2012
This year the Karamu girls’ rugby team has hit the ground running. Following in the footsteps of the unbeaten Championship winning team of 2011, the team is currently unbeaten after five games. The record to date is: v Hukarere 55-15, v NGHS 35-20, v Colenso High 61-0, v Wairoa 25-5 and v Taradale by default. These results are very pleasing as this year the team is rebuilding with nine new members. Montoya Tuaine, Talon Robinson and Tamia Edwards are showing they are capable of higher honours as are old hands, captain Maia Wati-Cooper (until her injury), Tracy Smith- Whakaue and stand-in captain Hera Kahukura.
At the end of the competition the girls are looking forward to the new 7 aside competition being played on Aug 1st and Aug 8th.
