Clay Target ShootingClay Target Shooting is enjoying considerable success this year and the results during Term 2 at local and regional competitions showed consistent improvement

Clay Target ShootingAlannah Withers (Y13) has been the best girls shooter at all four regional shoots and James Fulford (Y10) gained an outstanding result in being the best overall shooter at the last Hawkes Bay competition.

At the end of the term, the team travelled to Hamilton to compete in the North Island Secondary Schools Championships and enjoyed the best results the school has ever had, coming 5th in the teams event out of 50 school teams that were entered.

With regard to individual results, Alannah Withers was so successful in each of the shooting disciplines that she won the Girls Secondary Schools North Island Championship and was incredibly, only one point away from winning the Open Championship, which is competed for by all 250 shooters.

The team members were Alannah Withers (Y13), Oliver Withers (Y11), James Linnell (Y11), James Fulford (Y10), Hendrix Piper (Y10), Harry Smith (Y9).

The team, along with their staff coach Mr Field, are now preparing with real focus for the New Zealand Championships, which will be held in Christchurch at the end of this term.
