Scholarship Winners
On the last day of Term 2, Karamu High School was delighted to learn that two of our students had been selected by AFS International to be part of a worldwide contingent of 60 young people to visit Japan.
Year 11 students Bryce Watson and Raphael Van Workum were awarded travel scholarships by AFS International for travel to Japan at the end of the year. This came after a, intensive application and interview selection process involving students from Karamu High School and a number of other schools in New Zealand.
The scholarship provides Bryce and Raphael with return airfares to Tokyo, meals, transport and all other costs associated with their two week visit to Japan. This scholarship is worth in excess of $10 000.
For the second year in a row, a chamber music group from Karamu High School has won the Hawke's Bay Secondary Schools’ Chamber Music Competition.
Karamu is very pleased to have Ms Anna Mackenzie, a prominent Hawke's Bay author as our 2010 Writer in Residence.
Hockey has started very well for the teams at Karamu this year. All teams- the Boys 1st XI, the Girls 1st XI and the Boys 2nd XI - have enjoyed many convincing wins.
Clay Target Shooting is enjoying considerable success this year and the results during Term 2 at local and regional competitions showed consistent improvement
