Drama is a subject area where students can develop and excel creatively in a safe environment.
Drama is an important part of Karamu High School’s culture. It is offered as a subject in Years 9 to 13 for students who want to extend their skills and knowledge.
There are also many opportunities for Drama students in extracurricular areas. Students of Drama are often cast as the lead roles in the School musical which is put on every second year.
On the alternate year they could enter the Sheila Winn festival or the TheatreFest competition. Karamu has achieved great success in both these competitions.
A student led Improvisation club is run weekly to encourage confidence and develop quick thinking. Each November a team of junior Drama students compete in an Improvisation competition against other high schools.
